unua - first, either numerically or before anything else.
antaŭa - previous, prior.
- This word can also mean “front”, so be careful.
- Articles shift meaning. La antaŭa cifero means “the previous digit”; the one just before the one we’re pointing at. Antaŭa cifero means “a previous digit”; it could be any preceding part of the sequence.
nuna - current.
- For example, if you’re following a recipe and you’ve completed the first two steps, la nuna paŝo estas tria paŝo.
sekvonta - next; following in sequence.
lasta - last, final; or the most recent.
proksima - near in space or order.
General names for things in a sequence:
- aĵo, afero - thing
- ero - an element of a sequence
- valoro - a numerical quantity assigned

venonta is the singular future active particle of veni. Venonta homo would literally mean “person that comes next.”. While it would probably be understood as a synonym for sekvonta, it’s more often used to indicate things happening in the future. (time-wise, not sequence-wise.)
